Huge shoutout to Mark Kurtiak, Jr., who clearly had way too much time on his hands this morning. We arrived to find the building wrapped in danger tape. Is it a biohazard? A structural collapse? No, just a classic case of April Fools` dedication.

Forget tie-backs and soil nails. We’ve just designed the world`s first Inverse-Gravity Retaining Wall. Instead of holding the dirt back, it actually repels the earth using localized magnetic fields. The only downside is that if you walk too close with a belt buckle, you might end up as part of the facade!

Our team took the March Madness spirit to a whole new level yesterday! For our monthly teambuilder, we ditched the spreadsheets and picked up the basketballs for a high intensity :60 Basketball Shootout.
The energy was electric, the "trash talk" was (mostly) friendly, and it is confirmed, Erika Outlaw wins every time!

We spent the day discussing the vital world of geotechnical engineering, and what it takes to build a career in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry.
The discipline, resilience, and focus these young men and women show is exactly what our industry needs. Whether it`s in the lab or out on a drill rig, the "groundwork" they are doing today to reclaim their futures is the best foundation they could possibly build.

Since today is Friday the 13th, some people might be staying in bed to avoid black cats or cracked mirrors. But here at MAE, we don’t leave things to "luck."
